This list is always changing, but here are a few kdramas in a range of genres/romantic subgenres that I enjoyed immensely...

The Glory

ree

Perhaps the best revenge storyline to ever exist, The Glory follows a woman who was horrifically bullied in high school getting even with her perpetrators. (When I say horrific - I mean it - she was practically tortured!) After being let down by her teachers and the justice system, she takes matters into her own hands, planning her revenge over ten years. And trust me when I say, the ending pays off.

I'd recommend The Glory to anyone who wants something a bit more cinematic and slow. The shots are beautiful and like our protagonist's plan, the filmic artistry of this series is meticulously thought out.

A Korean Odyssey

THE BEST ENEMIES TO LOVERS TO EVER EXIST (as of yet). The yearning. The uncertainty. The heartache. I cannot recommend this series enough!

ree

A fantasy romance following a woman who can see ghosts, and a monster who wants to eat her. I can't say more without spoilers but TRUST ME its brilliant and sad and breaks my heart. I have rewatched this one multiple times. The worldbuilding is so fun. The character's are well crafted. And the romance is genuinely to die for.

Start Up

This drama is so over-hated. Its so much more than a business romance, its a story tackling anxiety, self growth, struggling sisterly bonds. I ADORE it. Out of the three mentioned so far, this is more of a lighter show, nevertheless it is the most realistic and tackles the most common problems.

As our main character is determined to become a successful entrepreneur, she is caught in a love triangle between her first crush, and the man who is pretending to be her first crush. (she was catfished).

Btw the romance is so SO cute. Its like if Mujhse Dosti Karoge met the business world and turned Korean. I recommend if you want something lighter and more realistic.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS:

Honestly, I'm quite bad at deciding, so here are a few more kdramas that I would definitely recommend... (quickfire version)

Crash Landing on You

A love story between a South Korean heiress and a North Korean soldier when she crash lands in North Korea. Really opened my eyes to the realities of North Korea. this show was heart wrenching.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha

Fun, vibey, summery. Small village boy with a city girl. This romance is for the funsies and feel-good warmth.

Doom at Your Service

Unlike the last recommendation, this one will take your heart and squeeze it till you cry. A fantasy romance between a woman who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and the grim reaper. THIS WOULD BE UP WITH THE FORMER THREE RECCOMENDATIONS BUT I swore to myself to only include one fantasy romance haha. Trust it's a good one.

Marry My Husband

Another revenge drama, but this time with more romance. Our main girl has been killed by her cheating husband and her best friend. When she awakes, she 15 years younger and is determined to escape her horrid fate. Personally think the romance is a bit boring but the revenge was so fun so it evened out.

Twenty Five - Twenty One

No comment. Watch this one blind for the best experience.
